Here are two pear recipes given to me by my neighbor.

    Pear Cake

    1 cup brown sugar
    1 cup white sugar
    1 1/2 cups oil
    3 eggs
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    2 teaspoons vanilla

    Add:

4 cups of peeled and coarsely chopped pears
3 cups flour (save 1 Tablespoon)
    1 1/2 teaspoon soda
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup pecans & 1 cup of raisins Dredged in 1 Tablespoon flour

Bake in well greased and floured bundt pan 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours with pan of water below the bundt pan.

Frost with cream cheese frosting or same on as German Chocolate Cake.

    Pear Pie

    2 Tablespoons flour
    3/4 cup sugar
    1 egg beaten
    1 cup sour cream
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups peeled and grated pears
Mix well and pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake at 425 for 15 minutes and then lower to 350 for 30 min. At this time put on topping and bake an additional 10 minutes at 425.

    Topping:

    1/3 cup sugar
    1/3 cup flour
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/4 cup soft butter
    Mix and sprinkle on pie.

    Enjoy

Our pear tree died many years ago & had to cut it down. :-( I remember canning them though. Made pear everything:) . Even made a pear upside-down cake (same as pineapple, just used pears.

I made this Glazed Pears & Apples recipe last fall and it was delicious. You could also make it with all pears or all apples. It was wonderful! It's great on top of pancakes.

If you like smoothies pears are delicious with apples and bananas in a smoothie.

Taken one sweet ripe pear for each person. Peel leaving the stem on the top (You will need it for moving pears to desert plates.)
Using a paring blade or corer, remove the seeds and center
    from each pear.
Cut your favorite soft candy bar into pieces that will fill up the cavity in the pear. and press them into the empty space. chill - but these need to be eaten pretty much immediately.
Place one on a plate and drizzle with caramel sauce!

pears are also a great FILLER...as in they have no real taste of their own when added with strawberries, peaches, etc, so they are a great filler in jams/preserves.

my boys also love then MINTED...yummmmyyy...I love them with cinnamon & cloves...with an almost sugar free syrup!
