Default Green beans in cheese sauce

Cut fresh green beans into 1 to 1.5 inch pieces.
    Cook until tender

    Cheese sauce:

2 tablespoons butter - melted in pan
2 tablespoons flour - stir into melted butter
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/8 teaspoon ground pepper
    1/8 teaspoon ground mustard
1 cup milk (I use whole or 2% milk)

    Cook until thickened

Add 1/4 to 1/2 grated cheddar cheese - stir until melted

Add cooked green beans to cheese sauce

The cooked green beans are also good in a thin white sauce, too.

    1 T butter
    1 T flour
    1/2 t. salt
    1 cup milk

Sounds really good. Do you think the Almond Milk would also work?

I have only used milk from cows for cooking, so don't know the answer.

peas and carrots worked well, too.

Cabbage or broccoli also works in a white sauce or the cheese sauce.

The touch of dried mustard seems to enhance the cheese flavor. I add a touch of dried mustard to the cheese sauce we use for macaroni and cheese.

That's what we add. The amount to add is flexible - depends on what you like and what is available.

You can add one to two cups of milk to the top recipe - depending on how thick/runny you like your sauce.
