Holiday Recipes for goodies without nuts?
#1
I have a neice that is DEATHLY allergic to peanuts. They stay away from all nuts in their house.
All of our family goodies that mom always made have nuts in the recipes. (Toffee, peanut brittle, tea cakeks, etc.) I would like to take a plate of goodies but need some ideas.
They even limit some types of chocolate because of being manufactured on the same machines that have nut residue.
I found a recipe for lemon fudge that I am going to try. Brother loves lemon.
Do you have any recipes that may work????

How 'bout sesame seeds? This Charleston recipe is one of my favorites- tiny, crispy, addicting bites of bliss.
Charleston Benne Wafers
½ c. Benne seeds, toasted (sesame seeds)
¾ c. soft butter
1 large egg, beaten
1 - ½ c. flour
¼ tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 c. light brown sugar
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg. Stir in dry ingredients. Drop by ½ teaspoons on waxed paper lined cookie sheet - Leave room to spread. Bake 10 minutes at 325. Allow to cool. Store in closed tin for freshness.
To toast seeds: Place on ungreased cookie sheet in 350 oven for 10 minutes. Stir once or twice. Seeds should be golden brown.

I love this recipe, fast and easy, you can put on almonds or leave them off and drizzle with white and/or dark chocolate.
Nutty-Cracker Toffee Cookies
1 cup butter OR margarine
1 cup sugar
1 box Keebler Club Crackers OR Saltine crackers
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup sliced almonds...optional
line cookie sheet with aluminum foil. Lay sincle layer of crackers onto cookie sheet, fill up sheet. Boil butter/margarine and sugar for 2 minutes, add vanilla. Spread sugar mixture over crackers. Sprinkle with chopped or sliced almonds. Bake @350 degrees F for 10 minutes. cool. Drizzle with melted chocolate, or sprinkle melk choc chips or hershey pieces over hot cracker/sugar mixture and spread when melted. You can pop the cookie sheet into the freezer for a few minutes to speed cool, then break into rectangles or squares, depending on cracker size.
If you like Skor candy bars or Heath bars, you'll love these!
