haven't tried lard but that is what was used at home. I'm making a buttermilk pie tomorrow and think I'll try mixing oleo and shortening. bet that will be good. and have you tried the powdered sugar pie crust?

Powdered Sugar Pie Crust
6 T. melted oleo
1 c. flour
2 T. powdered sugar
Add flour and powdered sugar to melted oleo. Pat into an 8 or 9 " pie plate.
For a prebaked crust like you need for a cream pie bake at 325 for 25 minutes. For use as a raw crust, just put the filling in to crust and bake.

what did I do wrong? I did as the recipe said, boiling water, shortening, mixed with mixer, sifted flour & baking pdr & salt, put in frig for 2 hours & was a hard ball when I got it out! It felt great when I made it up & thought about rolling it out then & now wish I had! WHAT DID I DO WRONG? LOL will take a pic of my pie when it's finished! I added oil to it so it would knead enough to work with, put it directly in the pie pan & smooshed it out with my knuckles! Who knows, this one may be a winner!
