Default Ideas for Book Club Menu, part 2

We just had book club again, I was co-hostess. The hostess made sangria (delicious), spanish rice, an amazing black bean salad, shredded beef to be wrapped in tortillas. I brought veges and dip for the appetizer and tres leches cake for dessert. It was a great Cinco de Mayo theme!! The book was The Wives of Henry Oades.

I haven't received the recipe yet but when I do I'll post. The book got mixed reviews. I believe (but don't hold me to that!) that is was loosely based on actual events. All of a family except for the father was kidnapped by the Maori in New Zealand. He believes them all dead and eventually sails to America to begin a new life.
