Default Looking for recipe for "log rolls" with crushed nut filling

Many years ago, my sister-in-law (at the time) brought something to our family Christmas dinner. It was sweet like banana bread, but it was rolled up in a log shape, with a sweet crushed nutty filling, and she said it was meant to be spread with butter when you eat it. It was absolutely delicious. I asked her for the recipe, (she said she got it out of a magazine), but somehow, she never got around to giving to me before they divorced. Although we have remained on speaking terms, she can't remember what recipe I am talking about.
I have checked out several internet sites (allrecipes.com; taste of home;and food) but have not seen anything even vaguely similar. The closest I could come is povitica, but that is nor rolled into a log shape. If anyone has a recipe that sounds like this, please PM me.
    Thanks!

It is called a nut roll. Every year in our family we have them at Christmas and Easter. I am polish and Slovak, but I believe it comes from the Slovak side of my family. I actually have one here in the house now - yum!

Try here: http://eatocracy.cnn.com/2013/12/12/kolachi-nut-roll/ and here: http://www.browneyedbaker.com/2011/0...t-roll-recipe/ for a recipe.

    Could this be it? http://www.browneyedbaker.com/2011/0...t-roll-recipe/

I didn't want to PM you, because if you find the recipe, there might be others interested in having it too.

I found several recipes called Nut Roll Cakes. Good luck with finding it.

http://www.bhg.com/recipe/cake-rolls...nana-nut-roll/ (This one has bananas & nuts, but doesn't mention butter.)

If you should decide to make one of these, please let us know how it comes out.

Happy Holidays from the Deep, Cold, Wet, South!

it sounds like what we call jelly roll .... a thin moist cake that you turn out on a powered sugar surface while still warm and roll up ... later you fill as desired and re roll

Thank you, justducky65, for your first link; my Slovak grandmother made Kolac (her spelling) with nut, poppy seed, and prune fillings. I could have lived on them, I loved them so much! I'll be trying this recipe very soon.

This is my mom's recipe. She made these every Christmas as long as I can remember.

    5 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tbsp. sugar
    3/4 lb butter
    7 egg yolks
    2 pkg. dry yeast
    1 1/2 c. evaporated milk

    Dissolve yeast in warm milk.
Add flour, salt, sugar and soft butter in a large bowl.
Add milk and slightly beaten egg yolks
Knead dough 10 min. by machine or 20 min. by hand.
    Refrigerate at least 2 hours.
    Divide dough in 4 parts.
Roll on sugar sprinkled board or counter.
Spread with nut mixture below roll up into rolls and bake at 325 until brown.

    1 pound walnuts ground
    1 pound powdered sugar
Whites of 7 eggs beaten until foamy.
Add to sugar and nuts and mix well.

Thank you to everyone who replied. The only reason I asked for a PM, was because I am not always able to check the Board every day, and since I have been looking for this recipe for almost 20 years, I didn't was to risk missing it.
I will be checking out all of these recipes, and hopefully, one will be THE ONE. In any event, my family is going to be getting lots of good eatin'
