Need new idea for potluck

Follow up on the potluck meal: when I told the co-ordinator I would bring deviled eggs, she rudely laughed and said "Nobody makes those anymore, and nobody eats them." But I brought deviled eggs anyway. Everybody complimented on how tasty they were, and ate all of them.

I made vegies and dip and put the dip in a hollowed out pumpernickel round that you could tear apart and eat along with the dip. One woman said to me..."That's so retro. I haven't seen that since the '80's", but it was gone in a flash and people were devouring the bread and dip before the vegies were gone, so to her.

Marinated carrots (one reviewer suggested adding garbanzo beans which I think sounds good).

I've taken these to pot lucks. NO ONE brings carrots, and these are delicious. Can be served hot or cold.
