I usually buy chocolate chips and walnuts to make chocolate chip cookies.... but looked thru my books the other day hoping to find something else that calls for both ingredients but not just a chocolate chip cookie!

Anyone got any other recipes using those two ingredients....but different ?

I get bored with the same old same old!

Bars, cakes or even a different cookie using them would be great!

Patsy, here's a cake my family likes. Hope yours will too.

    2 c. flour 1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 c. chopped nuts
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. sour cream
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chocolate chips

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, beat until fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to butter mixture, alternating with sour cream. Stir in vanilla and choc. chips. Grease 10" tube pan. Spoon batter evenly into pan. Combine topping ingredients and press evenly into surface of batter.

This is a recipe that I have for fool's toffee. It tastes just like a Heath candy bar and is very easy to make.

    Fool’s Toffee

    36 to 40 saltine crackers (1 sleeve)
1 cup (2 sticks) real butter
1 cup packed dark brown sugar
2 cups (12 oz.) milk chocolate chips
½ to 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts.

Line a 10x17 inch-baking pan with foil and coat the foil with butter. Arrange the crackers in a single layer with sides touching in the prepared pan. Combine 1 cup butter and brown sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil for 4 minutes, stirring constantly.
Pour the butter mixture over the crackers. Using a wooden spoon spread the mixture evenly over the crackers. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips and let stand for 2 minutes or until the chips soften. Spread the chocolate evenly over the prepared layers. Sprinkle with pecans and press lightly. Chill for 30 minutes or until set. Break into pieces and store in a covered container in the refrigerator.

Here is a great recipe to make with kids or grandchildren because it is so easy:

    Kids Favorite Cookie Bars

melt 1 stick butter and pour in bottom of 13 x 9 pan.

Crush 1 1/2 pkgs of graham crackers (this is 1/2 a box of grahams)
Mix into the butter and pat down to make flat crust.
Pour one regular size pkg of semi sweet choc chips over that.
Pour one regular size pkg of peanut butter flavor chips over that.
Pour one small can sweetened condensed milk over that.

You can add nuts and shredded coconut to these layers (under the sweetened milk) before baking at 325 for about 15 minutes, or until you can no longer see the milk. Edges will be a little bubbly. Cool completely and cut into bars.

I'm sure you can come up with hundreds of variations to this. Butterscotch or White Chocolate chips, M&Ms, etc.

    Choc. Chip Pie

    Pastry for one pie
    2 eggs
    1/2 c all-purpose flour ( I use self-rising)
    1/2 c sugar
1/2 c firmly packed brown sugar
    1 t. vanilla
1/2 c melted butter or margarine
One 6-oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips
    1 c chopped nuts
Whipped cream or ice cream (optional)

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Beat eggs until foamy. Add flour, sugar and brown sugar; beat until well blended. Bend in vanilla and butter. Stir in choc. chips and walnuts. Pour into pie crust. Bake until set, about one hour. May serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream or cool and eat as is.

I remembered another recipe that I like. When I still taught school and we had big get togethers, I used to make a dip. I don't have a recipe, per se, just kindof throw stuff in until it tastes good. Here's what I do:

Mix 8 oz. bar of softed cream cheese with powdered sugar until it's smooth and sweet enough to your taste. Add a little vanilla. Fold in chocolate chips and chopped nuts. Serve with graham cracker sticks. It's easy to make and always a hit.
