We always had large New Year Eve parties with cheese, nuts, non-alcoholic drinks and at midnight we served breakfast- eggs, bacon, ham, homemade biscuits, waffles, hashbrowns, after breakfast the party was over. We went to bed and got up to dirty dishes and football. Usually had about 40 guests. wonderful parties.

I have little smokies, meatballs, wings, pinwheels on the listing with a fruit and vegie tray. I have a couple of hot dips but had not thought about the wheel of cheese and what was I thinking I forgot the chocolate! If anone has some special recipe please include it.

This is definitely not finger food but the best New Year's Eve Party I threw had a baked potato bar. My husband and I got small baking potatoes, washed them and wrapped them in aluminum foil. We did not put them all in the oven at once but staggered them about 20-30 minutes apart. Because they were small, they baked quickly.
Then we assembled toppings: butter, cheese, chives, broccoli, chopped barbecue beef and chicken, chili, etc., everything we could think of!
Then the fun began - people used paper bowls and fixed their own baked potatoes. Cutting the potato in half and sharing it with someone was encouraged; that way you could fix multiple "halves" with different toppings throughout the evening. The bowls worked great! Everyone said they really loved being able to pick and choose toppings and have more than one kind. Several people have used this for New Year's Day and Superbowl buffets.
Clean-up was a breeze since we used the paper bowls and the leftovers were handy for meals for us for the next several days.

Buy 16 ozs (2 blocks) of cream cheese, either regular, lfat or fat free.
Place 1 block on a plate or shallow bowl.
Pour your favorite salsa over the top.
Serve w/dippers of your choice.
This is enough for 2 plates of dip....you can make them at the same time and put out or serve second one when first one is gone.
8 oz cream cheese of your choice
1 to 2 TBsp of mayo stirred in till smooth
add 1/4 to 1/2 well drained crushed pineapple
mix together and serve with crackers, toast points, celery
Enjoy!

You can make this several days ahead and warm up before you serve it.
Cut up a link type sausage into 1/2 inch long pieces. The sausage needs to be a firm sausage. Venison sausage is really great for this.
Mix equal amounts of picante sauce (medium or hot) and grape jelly, enough to almost cover the cut up sausage. Pour the sauce/jelly mixture over the sausage and simmer for 2 hours.
Chill and dip out the congealed fat. At this point you may freeze them, or reheat to serve them. Serve with toothpicks.
