Default Oatmeal Cookies Recipe (as requested)

    1/2 cup crisco
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup white sugar
    1 beaten egg
    1 tbsp water
    1/2 tsp vanilla
    3/4 cup flour
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp salt
    1-1/2 cup oatmeal

Cream shortening and sugars together. Stir in egg, water and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and oatmea. Drop on baking sheet and bake at 375 for 10-12 min.

*I always double the recipe and either put raisins in or soften dates with a little water and microwave for 3 minutes, mash and put a spoonful in between 2 oatmeal cookies.

Are the cookies soft or crisp? I love crisp cookies.

I'll definitely make these. One more question. Does it matter if you use instant or regular oatmeal?

Not an answer, but I only use old fashioned oatmeal, so right or wrong will use it. Curious what answer comes back.
