My 87 yr young Mom still makes this cake...when I was a child, my Grandpop would hull the black walnuts himself...he did this until he died at 98 yrs young...now Mom has to get them at the store...I would try to get her recipe, however, she goes by one that was handed down in her family from when she was a child...this means that the measurements are things like a couple hands full of flour, etc and not what you'd find in recipes today...just seeing the name Black Walnut cake brought back a lot of memories to this 61 yr young woman...thank you, Naomi

An elderly lady I used to know made an Italian Creme Cake and used black walnuts. Fantastically yummy and it froze well, too.
