Outstanding Bread Pudding
My church friend brought this dessert to a potluck and we all went WOW.
6 c. bread cubes dried
3 c. half and half
1/4 c. sugar
1 pkg. (12 oz) white chocolate chips
4 eggs beaten
1 can (20 oz. - Lucky Leaf) cherry pie filling (or of your choice)
Heat milk and sugar together until boiling and sugar is dissolved.
Stir in choc chips until melted.
Gradually whisk into the eggs.
Place bread in 2 qt. baking dish that has been sprayed w/non-stick cooking spray.
Top w/custard. Top w/pie filling, swirl.
Bake 325 for 40 minutes until puffed and golden.
Enjoy!!

Hmm, never thought of using canned pie filling...but will give it a whirl...I do put raisins and chopped Apple if I have on hand..and I do in microwave. 45 minutes, done and delish! Except the one time I set timer for 45 hrs...luckily smoke was pouring out of micro way before and I was nearby.....micro smelled for several days. after many cleanings and what was in pan looked like a moon rock! Now I am very careful hitting those timer buttons!

I went grocery shopping so bought ingredients for the pudding. I got home and discovered I bought bread crumbs not cubes. LOL. I popped some white bread slices in a low heat oven until dried out and cut them into cubes. I told DH I was making cherry bread pudding for my sew group. He said I should make one for a test and he would be my tester.

When I make bread pudding, I use old doughnuts, wheat and white bread, old hamburger buns-everything in it together. I really like mine with chopped pecans and some caramel sauce. This recipe looks good though so I will modify it with my collection of stale bread products.
