Here's a recipe for a dump cake I saw on PBS, contributed by one of the viewers who had been invited to the studio to make the cake in front of the camera during one of the pledge periods. They all said it was really good, and since then, it supposedly has become one of their most requested recipes.

    Peaches and Cream

    1 large can crushed pineapple
    1 bag frozen peaches
1 package white cake mix (2-layer size)
1 bag frozen peaches (second bag)
    1 cup raisins
    1 cup pecans (optional)
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup butter, melted

Layer all items in order given in a 9 x 13 cake pan by sprinkling each ingredient evenly over surface. Pour melted butter over the top.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 45-55 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Yummy. It sounds like mine only I use canned cherries instead of the peaches. I'm going to try this one too.

I believe you use the dry cake mix poured over all the ingredients and then pour the melted butter over it.

Thats what I do with mine.

    Happy baking,

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. To answer your questions:

Donna Mae, you are correct. You use the dry cake mix right out of the box, sprinkled on the pineapple and first layer of peaches.

The peaches are NOT thawed. Use them frozen right out of the bag.

I believe the liquid from the pineapple and the juice that comes out of the frozen peaches as they bake is what supplied the moisture for the cake to bake up.

The melted butter is poured over the top of the whole thing.

Be sure to just put ingredients in the pan in the order in which they are listed.
