Yes, you can! Quick easy dessert.
Also, if you like pies and pastries and don't like the work, a can of pie filling and ready-made pie crust from the freezer section of your grocery store make excellent pies and tarts. Thaw out the dough, spread out and cut into triangles or squares (shape doesn't matter, especially using round pie crusts). Fill with a tablespoon of the filling and fold over the triangle or square. Crimp the ends to seal. Brush a beaten egg white over the top and sprinkle with a little sugar. Bake on cookie sheet at 350 degrees for about 10 min. til lightly browned. The apples are already cooked and you are merely baking the crust and heating up the filling. You can make the apple crisp in the microwave for a really fast on the spot dessert too. |
I buy the topping for these pies. It's in a pouch like muffin mixes, costs .79 and all you do is add 1T. of water.

FYI - check the labels of the pie filling... most of them have gone to using high fructose corn syrup. Not good! Even the whole cranberry sauce (Ocean Spray) uses HFCS now. Boo! I refuse to buy it.

You could make a "dump cake." Put the filling in a 13x9 cake pan, sprinkle a cake mix over the top (spice would be good). Slice 2 sticks of butter into 16 slices and arrange them evenly. Add chopped nuts. Bake 350 degrees for 35 - 40 minutes. I like this with canned peaches, use a large can.
