My mother in law’s fruit cake is made with pure cane syrup & simple syrup

My mom had a "white fruit cake" recipe. It just used regular sugar but did not contain any citrus at all. It is a very dense sweet fruit cake containing candied cherries and pineapple, crushed pineapple, white raisins, walnuts. Maybe if you described your mom's fruit cake in more detail, someone might have a similiar one?
