I have only ever used a toaster oven for curing polymer clay! :D

But, with summer fast approaching, I might buy one to keep the house from heating up, so thanks for the idea.

I love my wood pellet smoker and Weber kettle outside, but I could set up a toaster oven out there, too. We like roasted vegetables a lot more than steamed, boiled, baked or fried, so I've been using my oven a LOT during the winter.

Nice! It looks like a great T/O. My mother gave me her old one but it takes sooooo long to heat up it frustrates me so i really don't use it. I looked at the description from your link and I think I would use this one.

Question. How long does it take to make toast? Say, comparable to a regular toaster?

It takes about 2 minutes to make toast in the T/O & about 3 minutes in my regular toaster. I can make 4 pieces at one time in the T/O. This T/O that we bought does not have to be pre-heated.

DH got sick of the toaster a few years ago, and stated he was going to buy a toaster oven, I thought he was nuts spending that much money instead of a new cheaper toaster. Wow, was I wrong, it is just DH and I now, and wow do I love that toaster oven, I never dreamed I would like it so much. As like many of you, I am making smaller meals, so the toaster oven is perfect, I even bought a few smaller pans, ie: 8x8" and a 6x9". As stated previously, perfect for warming up pizza too. The oven we have has a bagel setting for toasting, it is my favorite setting for toast, browns the top, but the bottom stays softer. i love that I don't have to heat up the entire oven for a small casserole, and no preheating. I am a true believer now.

I don't have a toaster oven. I had a friend that burned her kitchen down, because she left her toast in the toaster oven. That was many years ago, but it still scares the bejezus out of me.

Well- going by that logic you wouldn’t have an iron either because they have started a house fire or two also!!

True, but I don't personally know someone that lost their home due to an iron. It's just my own fears.
