I'm a homegrown Okie, but I grew up in the city where my mom PLANTED blackberries -- so when I moved out to eastern Oklahoma (near Tulsa, but in the country) a couple years ago, I had a little bit of a shock when I found out that they considered blackberries a bit of a weed-- because they would grow wild in the pastures, on the side of the roads, etc... And I thought they were crazy. I was like -- blackberry pie, blackberry jam, blackberry juice, come on... it's good stuff! :)

That's something!! I grew up in PA and we were used to the ones that grow wild in the cow pastures and along the road. I thought it was strange the first time I heard of planting them. I like all the stuff you said, but had to have blackberry mush when I got back from picking and then cereal with blackberries.
By the way my stepson lives in Eufaula.

I don't think I've ever been to Eufaula (unless it was driving through and that hardly counts!) -- but I've got some family in a nearby county, so I imagine it's lovely. There's some absolutely beautiful country in Eastern Oklahoma with the rolling hills and hilltops full of trees. (It's a beautiful state, though! :P)
I haven't heard of blackberry mush before -- is it made like cornmeal mush is? I'll have to try it one of these days!

I have a very small black-raspberry bush -- but it's just now producing fruit. It almost drowned out last year with all the rains. I don't remember it producing any fruit last year at all, so before this summer, I didn't even know raspberries weren't always red, lol!!
