Maybe a dumb question...is the cake mix prepared or sprinkled on dry?

Tried it tonight. I didn't realize it was a cobbler type of "Cake". So I got to the water and freaked out that it couldn't be correct as it just looked like powder mix with a few dropplets of water on top. Then I re-read the recipe a million times and double guessed whether or not to make the cake batter (with water, eggs, oil). I split the difference and I added just the water portion listed on the back of the cake box and baked for additional time. We ended up with a super tasty "spoon bread".

I'll try it again and this time I won't freak out and just stick to the recipe. Don't worry if you are having a hardy laugh . . . dh got a great kick out of seeing me freak out and ribbing me on the outcome of the cake.
