Default Those foods that you hated as a kid...

I didn't start loving peas until I was in my fifties and I'm still not that fond of cooked carrots. The one thing that my mom used to eat that I thought was totally gross was liverwurst, or the fancy French version, Pâté. Now, I love it! It's rich and decadent and I try not to eat too much, but it's hard to stop. Chicken liver Pâté and a glass of Pinot and I'm in heaven!

The classic, French Pâté has a bit of cognac in it, which is a very nice touch, but I find that the more humble, Christian Brothers Dry Sherry works nice too and is far less expensive. There's million recipes for Pâté. I'll find mine and post it. Anyone else have one? What do you love now that you hated as a kid? Please share recipes.

Liver, yellow crook-neck squash, oatmeal, coffee... I still won't eat them.

I couldn't stand, sliced fresh home grown tomatoes. We had them every lunch and dinner. Huge garden. Oh, what I wouldn't give for one of those tomatoes now.

I used to hate egg salad, now I love it. Still hate Cream of Wheat, there isn't enough brown sugar in the world to make me eat it. I do love oatmeal though.

Liver, lima beans - Yuck! Still yuck. I love veggies and fruit, and could make a meal of them.

    No dippy eggs!

Remember the days of sitting at the table until you ate your food? They will never touch my lips again. My brother won’t touch peas either. Bless the children.

Red flannel hash. Green beans. Anything fish. Actually, to this day I will not eat any of those items.

I couldn't stand cheese. I wouldn't touch mac and cheese, cheese pizza, cheese toast, nachos, cheese burgers, or cheese dip.
That changed when I first got pregnant I suddenly wanted cheese. Been eating it every since. I wouldn't eat mayonnaise except mixed with tuna I still won't eat mayonnaise on sandwiches.

What on earth is Red Flannel Hash? .... Please do tell!

    ...............................

Onions ... hated them as a kid but now, I quite enjoy cooked onions, in most any way. But still nada for raw onions.

Liver ... hated it then and now, I just won't go near it!

Tomatoes ... hated them and now I am making up for lost time, but they need to be really good, as in fresh from the garden. Winter tomatoes shipped in or from local greenhouses just don't make the cut for me. Just ate the last of my own tomatoes last week, that had been picked green before frost came here and they were surprisingly good. So I am already longing for next summer when I can get them fresh from the garden again. Mine or someone else's!

Maple Walnut Ice Cream ... ewwww ick as a kid, but now, ooh la lal

Cheddar Cheese ... another eww ick as a kid and only ate cheese slices. Must have been pretty disappointing for my Dad, being that we were dairy farmers. Now, I go ewww ick at the thought of cheese slices and the older the better for cheddar and I am in heaven!

My father always said there were three things he couldn't stand - liver, okra, and castor oil. My mother and I loved fried liver and fried okra, so she made them when he was away from home. We left the castor oil alone.

As a toddler I hated the taste of milk. Then my parents discovered I was allergic to it. I overcame the allergy, but still don't drink milk.
