? regarding Chevron
I want to use Chevron to make curtains to go with a baby quilt I am making. But the material I ordered won't work cuz I think the Chevron is going the wrong direction so I would have to seam the curtains in the middle to make them long enough.
When I am looking at some of the material, some descriptions say 'perpendicular to the salvedge' or 'goes with the salvedge'. I am looking at Riley Blake Chevron in medium green. Most is in 44/45" but I think I should have the 56". Can anybody help me figure out what I need to use so I don't have to seam the curtains. The dimensions of my window are 3x5 and but I want to go to the floor so it would be 3x7.
I feel really dumb not being able to figure this out. Does this link go from salvedge to salvedge? Is this what I want?

Thanks for any help or suggestions in the wording I need to look for.

I agree with peacebypeace. FYI: I used to help out with a web shop and all the pictures we posted were shot with length up and down and width side to side just the way just the way the fabric in this link is shown.

I think that when you lay out the fabric lengthwise the stripes are going to run accross the fabric. In other words, the length of the curtains is the length of the fabric and the width of the fabric will be the width of the curtain panel. the chevron stripes will run horizontal to the floor then. In other words you will not have to piece the length. Vertical and horizontal are always hard to remember. keep in mind that horizontal/horizon. Vertical is up and down. so I think that when it says the chevron runs vertical to the selvedges, I think they are saying they cross them. If they ran horizontal to the selvedges the chevron strips would run the same direction as the selvedges. May I say, they need to hire a better writer for their descriptions! :0

I've been trying to figure this out as well. Basically, I want to make these: http://www.babybedding.com/white-and...den-tab-drapes. To me, these curtains have the stripe running vertical to the selvage. Is that right? I think http://www.fabric.com/ProductDetail....3-975c31d3ed53 is what I need but I just used the help chat and the person told me that "they run parallel to the selvage instead of up and down". I'm more confused than ever.

I've made two graphics of the different zigzags to help you understand the direction on the fabric.

Also at http://www.babybedding.com/white-and...den-tab-drapes ....Looks like the #1 graphic on the fabric (*BUT, notice that this fabric is a cotton twill at Fabric.com*)

Looks like the #2 graphic on the fabric. This is the Riley Blake fabric.
