Grand Illusion - Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt 2014

Tuckyquilter that black fabric is gorgeous!! It really brings all your colors together perfectly!!
Joes mom- thanks!! I gave a feeling in the grand scheme of things it might not matter. I might still avoid using the darker green for any future blocks. I just wish most of them weren't right next a black square. But I'm sure I'm just over analyzing it. Lol
I googled and tried to find photos of people's guesses but couldn't find any. Someone on the thread here said she saw bloggers hoisting about it. That would be fun to see/ read. I wonder how many more weeks we have of clues.

I love your fabrics Tuckyquilter, especially the black that really ties it all together. Re-check your Step 3 blocks, I think that your black is in the wrong place. How do I know - because I had about a dozen done when someone said they had made the same mistake. It may not matter, but then again it might change the whole design.

Jeanne, This is my first BH quilt and they really do test my spatial perception. I did the diamonds backward but fortunately they were only my test ones. After I read your post, I turned around to look at my own design board and thought for sure I had done mine wrong, looked again and they were OK.

The last of the 'kids' have gone home this morning... so I can now switch my dining room from guest mode back to sewing mode. Break out the sewing machines and cutting mats! As much as I will miss my wonderful grown kids, I'm just dying to get back to sewing. On to clue 5 now... a short one!

Dang! I did not notice that while admiring those pretty greens.
I have finished sewing my clue #1 half-square triangle units! Now it's on to sewing the clue #2 blacks onto the diamond units. My sample double unit turned out well, so I'm hoping that holds with the remainder.

Tuckyquilter, you can fix your step 3 blocks by picking out the center seam between the top and bottom rows, and then switch them, sewing the bottom row to the top. That puts the black in the lower right or upper left corner, as it should be.
