Fat Quarter storage: where do you put them?
#32
The tall curved CD racks do need a little reinforcement now and then. I just keep the squares of cardboard that often come in the FQ and stack a couple on the wire dividers. I use my tall rack for storing bandannas/handkerchiefs and napkins to be recycled into quilts, so they don't have stiffness of their own.

How ever so cool, and even better yet, I HAVE ONE OF THESE!!!!!! It's in my outside storage room in 3 pieces and I have absolutely no idea what to do with it...until YOU came along with the perfect answer! Thank you for your idea, and I hope you enjoy your upcoming holiday season!

I've got two closets in my sewing room, my husband took the doors off for me so I can hang larger pieces, but I also have several hanging shoe holders that I put my some of my sets of FQs into, such as: fruits and vegetables, sewing themed, Asian fabrics, etc.

Shoeboxes! My FQ's are lined up two columns wide in cardboard shoe boxes. The boxes have enough give to fit about 58-60 in a box. (Plastic "shoe box" containers don't give, so it is harder to pack in the fabric.)

I have all my fat quarters stored in small shoebox size plastic totes by color. I added a shelf under my cutting table so I can put 3 totes on top of each other and 5 across so 15 totes on a shelf. Then I still have under the shelf for another 15 totes for the remainder of fat quarters, scraps by size, etc. I label each tote so I know what's in them without having to open their lid to see.
