wheelchair bag pattern

My 89 year old neighbor crocheted "walker" bags that hang from the front center of ones walker. It is about a foot wide with two tabs on the top. She used any yarn she could get her hands on and two buttons. It was washable and gaped open as it hung on the walker.

You could make a flat pouch type bag. Add some tabs with buttons or snaps to attach to the arm. You may need to adjust the pattern size.
Many ideas available on this site but one example here:

In addition to the one Rhonda suggested, one could make an armchair caddy that is like saddle bag and put Velcro strips on the inside to keep it over the arm. This is where the idea came from - https://www.mobility-aids.com/fleece...t-pouches.html

The wheelchair - walker bags would work, but may need to alter the size to fit.

Are you looking for one that fits a standard wheelchair or do you need one for a motorized wheelchair? Motorized chairs generally don't have the large wheels that can get in the way of an arm rest type bag.
I'll do some searching after you let us know which chair it will be used on. A picture might help us.

Thanks, it would be a regular wheel chair. I don't have a picture because it is for my mother-in-law in Florida. She is in a nursing home and it would be nice for her to have something to keep her glasses, tissues etc in when she goes from her room to the activity room or to watch TV. We haven't been able to go down and visit her as she was admitted last year during COVID and they keep getting one or 2 cases at the home which means no visitors yet.

I was interested in your request as I spent some time using a wheel chair following a recent fall in my home. I was not aware that such a bag existed until i did a search on Google and found several different styles shown. These were all ready made items and were for sale but the pictures and information gives one good ideas for making them yourself. I also found ideas on Pinterest. One Amazon site stated the finished size of their bag to be 12.5 x 7 inches. They mentioned that if one used a high wheeled wheel chair you may want to mount the bag on the inside of the arm. Several of the pictures shown had the bag mounted in such a way. I also found that directions for a small sewing caddy were listed and were similar in size then finished. One would have to modify the handles for mounting but I thought that was another idea that might be useful to consider. I till try to attach some of what I found. I hope this will give you some ideas which will enable you to come up with the bag you desire. Happy sewing! Sewing Date Traveler.pdf Sewing-Caddy-Tutorial.pdf
