February mini quilt swap
#91
Chasezzz - I actually had the blocks made before the retreat - I'm embarrassed to say that I probably have over 150 hours in this quilt top between choosing fabrics for each block, cutting and sewing. The flying geese seemed to take forever; lots of little pieces.

dabbler, our guild is making those blocks. Are yours 12 or 6 inches. I'm making both sizes and have about 10 finished. I made a few modifications especially on the 12" blocks as I'm using shades of blue and cream. The smaller blocks I'm using background fabric that my mom would've made an everyday dress or apron from and incorporating little "mom" memories in it. Lots of fun for example, I used gold and avocado green for the teapot as she had painted her kitchen like that once.
Yes lots of FG blocks...love your cheery colors

dabbler...you make me feel better! I too have made quilts that have many blocks with tiny pieces but it took me more than a retreat weekend! oksewglad...I can about guess the year your mom painted the kitchen avocado and gold. There was a time in the 70s when those colors were all the rage for kitchens, and many appliances came on those colors!
