Birthday Swap 2020/2021

As I was making this pile of 16 patches this week-end for the Debby Brown Quilt Along, I was thinking how lucky I am to have so many of these 2.5" squares from our birthday swap. The variety of prints and colors is only because of our swap. In my pile are 106-16 patch squares. That calculates to 1,696 little squares. Oh, they need to be trimmed but better than half of the fabrics are not from my stash but from yours. Thank you, all.

WMU - those are going to be so fun!
I was also super grateful for all the different squares this week. I have been working on Jen Kingwell's Small World Quilt. It's about half done now and the pieces are tiny! It's a very controlled chaotic quilt and whimsical! Most pieces I used were about 1.5 inches, The orange peels are each from a 2.5 square, Anyway, I've been able to use so many of my Birthday Squares in it! I've been making it animal themed and so many of the cute squares came from there. I was going to wait and share it when done, but here it is! (some panels aren't sewn together yet cause they are at different heights, the top will be the sky with over 550 1 inch finished squares - many of which will be from the Birthday Swap!)

I mentioned it several weeks ago here in this thread. Go to https://debbybrownquilts.teachable.com/ and sign up. She will release a new patterns and some new machine quilting demos each month. There are lots of pages to wander around in and do wander. She is a good teacher and has clear videos to teach the technique at hand. I dismissed her lesson on webbing the 16 patches but went back and find it a very effective way to make the squares for her quilts. The site and quilt-a-long is free but she will from time to time mention her online classes. No pressure. She does have a special template that she used but, she also shows how to make the cuts with common templates that we have on hand.
The first quilt is simple but it is an excellent way to use up 2.5's. I posted some comments and a photo late today of my pile of 16 patches for this quilt along. As we move into the new swap, I hope to post some finishes so folks can see their contributions in my quilts.

Irish - that's such a creative way to use the squares and transform them into something completely different!

I finally finished this year’s mystery this evening. It’s not as wonky as it appears but it sure isn’t perfect. The borders and sashing are scrappy in keeping with the theme. I really enjoyed making it! Now to get it quilted.

Janice MC, I still love this pattern. (It is the quilt in my avatar.) I don't see anything Wonky in yours. It is eclectic and such fun. I have made it twice and given it away twice. I really should make one for myself.....and keep it. Still waiting to quilt my pink and purple version from this year. So much to do and so many quilts to make and finish.

Irishmom - that patter is so fun and yours is turning out nice! I made one a while ago and I gave away. it's one of those patterns I'd like to make again and this time do things a bit differently.
It's kind of funny that I keep seeing people working on quilts I've completed and given away, and I catch myself wishing I'd have kept them. But if I'd kept everything, I'd have no where to store them all and why have them sitting in my closet when they can be on someone else's bed or couch?. I keep telling myself that if I really liked a quilt that much, I can make another. So far it's not happened, too many other patterns on my bucket list!
