Oh gawsh I am going to have to hide from the sales this year just no extra money. On a good note I have now put together well almost three Christmas stockings using just scrap and stash I am just tickled.

Thanks to the encouragement of folks here, I've done extremely well this year in not buying a lot of extra fabric. I really only fell off the wagon big time when Connecting Threads had their batiks on sale and then when they introduced their Kaleidoscope line. Other than that, I've purchased a few pieces to complete projects. Thank you all for your nudges, support, admonitions and forgiveness. I plan to stay on the moratorium because when I moved I was aghast at how much fabric I had. My plan, which I will reiterate when we start up again next year, is to purchase only to finish a project for the next year (or longer) and to use 90% or more of stash fabric in each quilt.
At this point, I am going to quilt the 17 quilt tops I discovered when I packed to move. Yes, seventeen. I've just finished setting up Bailey on his frame so I can get cracking on those. I hope to have 6 completely finished by Christmas (my original goal was 12, but that ain't gonna happen). So, since I won't be piecing, I won't need to buy any more fabric. Phew!

I sew in the dining room and it's that time of year to straighten up for the holidays. As folks have mentioned you find the most interesting things as you clean. I'm trying to be strong, but just got a flyer from the LQS. Anniversary sale is this weekend all fabrics 30% off, including clearance stuff. I too may have to run out & help the local economy.
On another note, several folks have mentioned the 2016 moratorium. I was going to ask if we wanted to continue, but it sounds like folks are counting on it! I'll set it up again.

I just traveled for five days and did not buy any fabric. Of course, it helped that I did not go to any quilt shops!

Ok, very nice projects. I too like the log cabin.
I have not bought any fabric since last month when my guild went on a mini shop hop. I've been busy making my 24 holiday swap blocks for the board. Then I'm working on my secret Santa projects. All of these projects were made with my stash. I'll post pics after I finish them.
I'm glad to hear this site will continue next year. Have fun buying and sewing everyone!!!!

Nice log cabin pieces. I actually finished a rag quilt at the retreat from stash. Handed the rest of the pieces to a friend so no take-backs. I still have to brush it out to get the ragged effect (don't want to clog my washer so I am using a chenille brush). Then I sewed pairs of a jelly roll and cut them down to 60-degree triangles. When the rag quilt is done, I will work on the jelly one. It does feel good to shop stash.

I'm hurting my arm patting myself on the back. I went to the grocery store today and drove right past the LQS holding the anniversary sale. Didn't even slow down.
