    It started out with me not finding any polka dot fabric for the centers and I was forced to cut up a blouse from the thrift store and that fabric looked so 'female' to me ....

    I like the idea of black silhouettes and I also would add some gold fabric. You could echo the silhouettes in the quilting.

    gloriabug: if your friend was an adult during the 70's, why not print out a photo of him and include that several times in the quilt?

    no I meant that SPOONFLOWER already has some...
    but one must also remember that the fabric from spoonflower is not only very costly, it is NOT permanent and can not be used in a quilt that will be washed.

    I am laughing so much my husband thinks I've lost it. I've been reading this thread, I've also been looking at paper pieced blocks. Do you see where this is going? Yes, that thought crossed my mind. Lol!
