i first made the block. then cut the batting the same size. the backing need to be 2 inches bigger than the block.
i stitched in the ditch after i sandwiched each block..making sure the top was centered. did all the blocks,then joined them together..i did a few like this..

it is the "fun and done" method/pattern. my LQS has lots of different patterns. it calls for the "batting buddy" template, but you really just need to go 2" larger on the back.
