When they got back home to Massachusetts after 10 days at Disney, my nephew's Nana Pauline asked him about his trip. All my nephew could talk about was my cat Cousin Vinnie, and all the buttons on the elevator of the high rise I lived in. To this day, he can't tell you anything specific about visiting Mickey, but he will never forget Cousin Vinnie!!
That is so cute.. Kids would rather have a cardboard box instead of a toy some days I think.. and elevator buttons:)

I always had to sit at the lunch counter and have a piece of their cheesecake. It was the best. I finally got the recipe from one of the ladies that worked at the counter. It is just not the same as eating it there. My mom passed away 6 years ago this month. Thanks for letting me remember.

Ah, I remember Woolworths lunch counter. It was such a treat to have lunch there with Mom when we went shopping "downtown". White gloves, hat, matching shoes and purse. LOL It was a big deal.
It is so true that we all remember the "little" things. I'm sitting here remembering so many of those things and smiling.
My eldest grandson has a few. He will at times say "ah, the memories". He's 7
Thanks for the memories!

My memory is of delectible pecan pie and a "co'cola" with my BFF and her very formal grandmother at the 'best' department store in town. Still my favorite combo and comfort food. :D

I have eaten at Woolworths many times and I too regret that my kids will not have those memories but, they have their own. As for McDonalds, I was around when they and Dairy Queen were both walk up window resturants.
My kids remember the darndest things now. Usually things I never paid attention to.

I remember the balloons for the banana splits. You picked a balloon, popped it and the price was inside. Sometimes you got a real bargain. I also remember the ice cream sandwiches - a block of neopolitan ice cream between 2 crisp waffles, I think it was 9 cents. I also remember the doll items. Our treat was getting new shoes and socks or hats for our dolls to go with the outfits that my mom would make, or a new coloring book or paper dolls.
