Someone's fancy way of saying they sew right sides together, leave an opening and turn the quilt or pillowtop right sides out. I HATE THE TERM and will never use it on my own. The one "birthing' I watched on TV was so terribly cumbersome that I felt sorry for the person being taught.

I made some quilts for my granddogs and used the birthing method instead of binding them... Thought it would be better because you don't have to worry about anything getting caught in the binding and ripping it off.

I make quilts for Quilts for Kids and birthing quilts is not within their guidelines as far as I've seen. Everyone likes different techniques. I prefer to make the quilt the traditional way. I would check with the organization if you plan to do any charity quilts. Happy quilting!!
