Our county fair starts Wednesday, so I'll look around for ideas. I was there yesterday entering a few canned goods, and met a woman entering a quilt made from an older friend's collection of ribbons won at sheep shows, with a background fabric that looks like real sheep and backing of cartoon sheep.

So, not having gone to a state fair in a few years, I thought I'd get some research done by checking out other state fairs. Boy, Iowa's state fair is impressive!! Wow!! and it's happening very soon, so I was looking at all the exhibition categories for inspiration. My, the Arizona's state fair doesn't hold a candle to Iowa's! Our state fair doesn't happen until mid-October (because of the blistering hot summer time temps that last until around October or so). It's great fun to read about what all is judged in competitions! I have so many ideas now....

I have this absolutely beautiful night time firework looking material that will be so great for this swap.....but, am I willing to part with it? Does anybody else have this problem? Just don't want to cut into that special fabric?

Tlambing I am that way too. I have one piece of fabric that is so pretty, and keep not touching it. I actually have in mind to use it for a wallet to use in my purse for places to put change, and all those cards we accumulate.

That is an idea kiffie, I have been practicing a little applique to make mine better. I still would love to PP but need that one on one lesson for it to soak in I think. My pieces are always too small or too big and "back asswards" too!!
