A quillow pocket is double sided. Therefore, no need to try to hide seams. It also has batting in between. Use the birthing method and top stitch; then sew it on after quilted.

I think I would make a fleece pocket and just attach the one edge into your binding. That way when he moves his feet around the quilt still stays in place.

I love my quillow for just this reason. The pocket keeps feet nice and toasty! Depending on your quilting design, you might be able to machine stitch it to the quilt top and have the stitches not too visible. - that's what I did for my quillow.

I gave him the choice for the backing, and he wants to have a polar fleece backing this time around so the pocket will be polar fleece also, unless I decide on minky.

Only other suggestion, make the pocket out of flannel, or even better, fleece to keep his feet warm because I'm assuming that is the object of the exercise.
Hello My Friend! Yes, warmth was one of the reasons he tells me but also to keep the quilt in place around his feet. I asked him if he wanted to have a different backing like all polar fleece or Minky and he said, "Yes, that sounds great." I think I have enough polar fleece in the right color for the backing for this quilt.
