So far no spoofed calls on my cell but have had a few on our landline. One from the salon I normally use so I answered that one only to find some robo idiot on the other end. Same thing last night with a local business name. Not sure in either case if they were the 'actual' numbers for these business. Not sure if this is a new workaround for the nomorobo feature (free for landline VoIP numbers; paid for cell) which generally works really, really well.

We have even had spoof calls from our own phone number. I keep telling my husband that I am going to buy a whistle and when I get connected to a real person, I am going to blow my whistle long and loud. I had a call yesterday offering help with my $10,000 in student loans. I am 73 years old. Had my student loans paid off by the time I was 68. LOL Just think how much good these people could do if they put their time and talent to useful.

I started doing the fast pushing of the #sign when picking up on the 800 calls on our landline. Seems like they have dwindled down and now it is more of calls that show our area code and prefix in the caller ID. We get many calls with what appears to be a valid phone number with "Unavailable" in the name of caller line.

I've checked some of the numbers ... after-the-fact ... on whitepages.com by "reverse telephone number" and usually they say spam or possible spam. I immediately block them on my cell. Can't do much on the landline.
I will NOT hit any other numbers for fear I'll be connected to some distant country at $99.00 per minute!!
I will NOT say yes or no - to a live OR recorded person - as they can record my 'answer' and place it on another voice recording saying that I approve of some expen$ive item or cruise or trip, etc. Wonder where the legality is in that??
If you don't know the number and it's not in my list of approved callers, don't answer it. Let it go to voice mail or the answering machine and deal with it later, if need be.
I agree with sewvicki... what a waste of time and energy. Wonder how desparate these people ar to work on that type of calling!?!?!?
Good luck out there. It's a crazy world.

I'm with all the rest of you; I can block the ones that come in on the cell phone but not on the home phone - I don't think. I too don't answer if I don't recognize the number and there is NEVER a name with it. Like people - GET A REAL JOB!
