I have a few aguilegia, its' first leaves have just started to appear and it will be a while before it flowers. I am trying to upload a photo of my 99K. I took the extention table out to better view the tiny bracket and functions. I don't know if it helps, as mentioned the earlier 99s I've seen have had slightly different arangement in the lid.

I don't think it will fit inside a bentwood case/cover, perhaps a coffin type cover? I have a 185K with a fold down extension table, and that does not fit inside a bentwood case/cover - it did not have a cover, I just tried it with a cover from another machine. Is your 99k extension table similar to the 185k?

No, well, at least not all 185Ks. The 185K extention tables I find pictures of have sort of tapered sides. The 99 was in production for such a long time, there are early suitecase types where one side comes off, the extension table fits on the side that comes off. The later 99 with stitch length lever has a case with a top fitted straight onto the case with latches on the sides. I have seen both first hand, the early ones with a stitch length knob often come in bentwood cases. The extesion table on my 99K is square, the same width as the base; it fits in the domed case with out any fuzz. I think the early type suitcase verison had the same extension table.
This is my 99K, 1934, bentwood case, extention table in place.

Thanks Mickey2. My 185k extension table is slightly tapered, and folds up nicely, I have not taken it off - well no need to, I guess. I just wondered if the 99 table was similar; I have not seen one IRL.

On the 99K it's not hinged, it comes on and off easily but goes in place and comes off in horizontal position. They made a few alterations for the 185K, I like the pale wood base and extension table on the 185, but I have to add I like the cognac colors and shellac finish of the bent wood cases too.

Thank you all for the replies and the pictures, I got the extension in the case but it wasn't happy about closing and locking properly so I've wrapped it in bubble wrap and rested it on the back of the machine, at least I know it won't fall when I remove the lid.
Sorry themadhatter, definitely not a botanist, but aquilegia/columbine is my favourite flower and it's also part of my address.

I saw a 185K today, beige and with the tapered extention table. They wanted the equivlent of $50 for it. The extention table was fitted inside the box much like on my 99K, but when the securing lever was turned in place is was too loose to tighten anything. I guess it needed a slight adjustment, either tightening the screw, having a felt pad on the table to raise it, or something like that. It was just one or two millimeters for working as it should. This was the more squarish box with a burgudy uphosltery that lifts up much like a bent wood case.
