This is when I consider it finished also. Not until it is ready to use or ready to be gifted do I really think of it as being totally finished.

It's not a quilt until it's finished. However, a finished top is a finished top!

I love the planning and the piecing, not so big on the quilting and finishing.

I have several quilts that are quilted but have no binding and they are in use. I will get around to binding them sometime or not. They are all holding up just fine without the binding. They are stay stitched around ready for the binding if ever. Doesn't bother me and better then sitting on shelf waiting to be completely finished. I have ragged a lot of unbinded quilts when I ran out of time for the kids to use. I won a ribbon with one I ragged because I ran out of time to get it finished. LOL

I consider my quilts finished when it is pieced, sandwiched, quilted and the binding on. I usually don't put labels on and I know that is not a good thing but I am a happy camper when I take that last stitch to complete the binding.

For me, finished is when I'm ready to send it on to be put into use. I don't put labels on most of the quilts I give away, and so far have not put any on the quilt for personal use. Only those made/gifted for a special reason get labels.
