Sewing Machine Needles
#12
I use the little plastic container that my husband’s diabetic test strips come in for pins and needles. I tape it shut securely before putting out in garbage. My used cutting blades are put back in the container I get them in and also taped securely before disposing.

I have an old cat food can (tuna can would also work) in my drawer. All old rotary blades, needles and bent pins go in it. When it is getting full, I put it in a sandwich bag and put it in the trash. I figure this is about the safest it can be for anyone at recycling/trash centers.

I store all used needles, pins, rotary blades and even tacks and nails in a metal container. I tried taking a pill-box sized container of used needles to the pharmacy for sharps disposal but they wouldn't take them. Something about the actual transfer of sharp items from my container to the sharps container. That was my only try. I've been thinking I could take them to a public washroom that has a sharps container and put them in there but that doesn't feel quite right to me. Thank goodness they don't accumulate quickly.
