It’s big enough for something or someone, right? Why did they say it’s too small? Does your guild quilt for aa charity with minimum size requirements? You gave away scraps you didn’t want to keep—don’t give it a second thought!

I too am with PatriceJ; you quit when you did so apparently it was the size You wanted it to be. That is all that counts. Finish it up and enjoy it.

It is too small? for whom? A bit smaller works well for a child on the sofa or in the car. And if it was very small, it could still be a baby's crib quilt or a wheelchair/stroller throw. You made it, you get to say what size it is.

Make it the size you want, it's never too small! You said it's a young family, they probably have kids, perfect. Even if they don't adults come in all sizes. Whatever size is perfect for a lap quilt or a snuggle security blanket size.

I have completed only 2 quilts so still consider myself a beginner. This started with reading a thread here and I realized that mine was smaller than everyone talked about. This is for a specific person - probably 5' 8" normal sized. My flimsy is 39" by 54". I envisioned it being put over him as he sat or lay on the couch. At the quilting group I asked for opinions. I do want it to be useful.

Someone advised me years ago to box up old stuff, seal and date the box. If you haven't opened the box after a year, then dispose. Whatever you do, don't open the box.
I just know the thing, whatever the thing is that is in the box, it will be needed exactly a week after the box is gone.

I pieced a lap quilt for my husband for his recliner. I'd envisioned a nice comfortable size and it ended up almost a twin size. Waay too big. Still waiting to be quilted.....Sigh!

I sometimes wonder what the end of a story is, so here is the end of this one. This quilt was intended for our accountant as a thank you for all his hard work. I made it about 10" bigger adding a border around the front, a stripe down the middle of the back and a border top and bottom on the back and it was becoming the "quilt from hell" but I quilted it myself and only finished it about 2 weeks ago. He came over on Monday. I think he did appreciate it as he told us about looking at one this summer and almost buying it but when he went back for a second look he realized that there were a number of worn and frayed spots. It was also funny that he found a piece that had a bit of writing on it - the word giggles. He has a funny last name and when he was a kid apparently the other kids called him Giggles. I must admit I am glad to see it gone.
