Toogie - the star is a variation of the friendship star. The points are just a red half square triangle with blue and white quarter square triangles. I made them the traditional way of sewing squares, then cutting down the diagonal to get the triangles, so the final cut was a red square paired with a square of blue and white half square triangles, then sewed and cut on the diagonal again. (that's why the direction of the white points alternate.... that was not planned, just how it came out when I cut the squares).
I found the pic of the eagle online, printed and enlarged it to size, then traced it on white, cut it out and appliqued on. the hardest was lining up all the individual pieces properly, I just eyeballed it....there is probably an easier way.
