I received some feedback that the brown is too dark and I agree. I was using my scraps, but I think I'm going to try to find a lighter brown. I appreciate all the PM's with links for thread painting etc.

I don't know much about quilting yet but a lady in a group I'm in had the same problem with the dark color showing through and someone said you could back it with muslin before you stitch it down that way you could still use black for the background. Sorry, hope you don't mind my 2 cents. By the way it is really pretty you did a nice job!

Here's the second block I made today. It will look much nicer with dark pink veining stitched in the yellow part of the lady slipper. I also changed the dark brown on the first block. All are done with scraps so I won't feel bad if it looks terrible when I start stitching on them.
