Hand Quilting stencils/designs
#22
teddysmom, I have found stencils in a few places, the one I use most is http://www.quiltingstencils.com/ and another place I frequent is http://www.quiltmaker.com/index.html Go to the freebie tab, click, and find the motif of the month. I check there once in a while and save the pdf file to my computer. Now I have a folder on my computer that has a whole lot of quilting motifs to use.

I use them mostly where there are large blank spaces. I have a bunch but had to buy one recently for this quilt. It was a larger stencil but I used just part of it for what I wanted. It was that rectangular space that was hard to fill.

Thank you all for your responses about marking tools. Every time I read a thread about hand quilting, I'm reminded of how much I enjoy it. I really, really should follow your examples and start a quilt just so I can hand Quilt it. Thanks also for the links.

I just got a catalog from Connecting Threads. Several quilting stencils. Feather Wreath & Border, Meandering Leaves 7"x 7 1/2", 1" Grid Background, Large Leaf Meander 7" x 9", Meander, 6 1/2" x 9", New Joy Border Assortment. Will probably order one of each.

Two companies sell on line. Quilting Creations which has been mentioned and The Stencil Co. I have heard that Quilting Creations might not have their entire catalog on line. The Stencil Co' entire catalog is on line. Stencils you find on Amazon and other sources are from these two companies. Prices from Amazon are generally priced higher than direct. Joanns has a few but selection is limited.
