I know what leaders and enders are but i don't understand how this step uses leaders and enders any differently than step #1 would. and what do you mean by making pairs? is there a strategy to getting to this 7x7 that I don't understand? I would just keeping sewing them together in rows or chunks until the right size happens..... but I never learned how to quilt from anyone, so I tend to do things less efficiently than I should....
Sorry for the confusion LAF... there is no difference between step 1 and 2 for the leaders and enders. I really should have said that I always use leaders and enders.

Crispy_frog I do love those blues too!
so that is 2 more to add to the Mystery Quilt:
LottieParker
Crispy_Frog
IrishMom
Janice McC
Hav4 boys
WMUTeach
QuiltingLawyer
PattyJo
Travelinggramma
me
How is everyone doing on step 2?
Step one was 63 total 2.5" squares.
Step two is 98 total 2.5" squares.
Running total....161 2.5" squares.
more numbers........................
so if you are going to make a baby size/ lap you will need a total 873 2.5" squares
if you are going to make a large throw/ quilts of valor size you will need 1185 2.5" squares
and if you are going to make a queen size quilt you will need 1940 2.5" squares..
If someone is brave enough to make a king let me know I will figure out the math.
Hope this helps out on some of your planning.
Have fun!
Barb
If anyone needs certain colors I would be glad to swap with you. Just let me know. I know I can use Patriotic candy squares.

Hi Barbara- based on step one and two, what size are we currently working on, or is that part of the mystery?
I've never done a mystery quilt before. Let's say I will want a larger one, will I need to expand on steps one or two, or just wait til later? Or just wait until after the mystery is over, and do another one on my own? Just wondering.

Barbara, I am laughing at the prospect of a King Sized quilt made of our dear little 2.5 inch squares. Yeah, I likely have that many but really!! I plan on getting both parts one and two finished this week-end. I need some sewing time. My work is piling up and I need the mental relaxation so I can plow through the end of the semester with my students. Class will be over in three weeks and I will be free until September or whenever the university decides to open up again with students on campus. .

So I received the sweetest invite from Barb to join all y’all in your 2020 Mystery Sew Along. It didn’t take me long to find clues 1 and 2. My poor machine is at the repair shop right now. I’m hoping to get it back next week. (Fingers crossed.) Thank you for thinking of me. I’ll do my best to catch up as soon as I can!!!
