I was always taught to use my left foot with my sewing machine pedal. I guess it is due to the knee lifter being on the right. I am a right hander also but use my left foot for sewing. LOL!!!

I am right-handed and usually sew with right foot. I, too, was told that changing and using the left foot would help back and hip pain. I have noticed improvement in back pain when I use the left foot. It does take a little time to get used to it. I forget and start feeling around with my right foot for the pedal and then I remember it is on the left side.

I am left handed and use my right foot for the pedal. That is the way I have always sewn, but it could be because my Mom taught me to sew and she is right handed. It does seem to come natural like driving a car.

I had my right knee replaced several years ago. Within 3 weeks I was ready to try sewing again. I used my left foot and quickly became used to it - so used to it that once I could use my right foot again, I found that I kept using my left foot. It took a while to "train" myself to go back to right foot sewing. So go have the knee surgury and sew with your left foot!

I used to use my right foot. But, was taught to use my left foot, since I have a knee lift on the right side.

I am left-handed and now its almost like I am ambidextrous as well now since I have been going to BOM classes. Teacher has been teaching us to use both hands and feet when quilting, cutting, and sewing. ps good luck on your surgery I had mine done 10 years ago but into 2 yrs I fell and broke the femur bone on my total knee doctor told me the knee was not moving and thats why my femur broke but that when I do something I do it well a 45 degree brake all the way to my hip however back to your left right question work with it before you have your surgery

right-handed and right-footed. but when I broke my right foot a few months ago, I was surprised how easy it was to use my left foot on the pedal.... wouldn't worry about it. You'll be fine! My doc's talking knee replacement too. Not looking forward to it. Good Luck!!

I'm Left handed, but use my right foot. I can hand sew and paint with either hand.
