I had surgery on one hand. When I started working on my GFG I began to have numbness again. I wear a brace on both hand every night. No more numbness. I won't sleep without them. I figure I will stop the problem before it starts back.

Yes, they do, wore them for years. Then had the surgery. FABULOUS!!! Had the surgeries on Friday and went back to work typing on Monday.

I've had carpal tunnel since the early 90's and I wore the braces all day and night at first and now (20 years later) I only wear the braces if my wrists start hurting a lot which is about 4 times a year so they really help in the long run - beats having surgery!

Same here, use them at night if my hands have given me trouble that day.

Yes!!! I have RA as well as carpal tunnel and have been wearing them nightly for 20 years. I could not quilt or do much else without them. Don't make them tight at night, you just want them to keep you from bending your wrist.
If too tight, they can cut off the circulation.

I wear one on my left hand/wrist and have for a couple of months. It's amazing how much it has helped. I hardly ever have pain anymore. I only wear it when sleeping so it's never inconvenient. I'm planning to get one for my right hand as well before I start hurting.

I notice so many responses that didn't have good luck with surgery. When I had mine probably 5 years ago or more, I had a surgeon that didn't cut up my wrist at all - he went in through the hand, and I went home with just a band-aid on my hand, and was crocheting that night. I would NEVER, EVER have the surgery where they cut your wrist open, and you have to have a cast or huge bandage on your wrist for 6 weeks. My wrist has just started bothering me again in the past couple of weeks, so I just went out and bought a new wrist splint. DON'T have the surgery unless you know the surgeon will do just the small cut in your hand. MUCH easier!!!

I wore them but also had the surgery. I have not had a bit of trouble since haveing it done on both hands many years ago. I had a wonderful doctor and I believe that is why.
