My phone, cable and internet are bundled through my cable provider (Spectrum) and I don’t even have to get up and look at my answering machine as the number and name pops up in the corner of my tv screen. I didn’t have a clue this was possible until I changed providers - sure does save me lots of popping up and down so now I just let the phone ring.

I lucked out and got a cell phone number that gets very few calls. Lately I have been getting calls for a "Sandra" (not my name) from a specific number. I finally caught one and told him, No Sandra here. He said he would take the number off his list. I have gotten 3 more calls from the same number in the last few days!!
Number blocking is pretty useless as the bad guys can spoof numbers -- look at it this way - if you get a call from your own phone number, you know it is spam, so ignore it.
This is my favorite response to spam calls. It is a "bot" but the spam callers take a lonnnnng time to realize it, sometimes up to an hour. Look up "Hello this is Lenny" on Youtube.

I just heard on the news that attorneys general in 42 states are pushing to stop robo calls. the phone companies do have the technology to stop these... even the ones that are spoofed.

I live in Alaska but kept my North Dakota cell phone number because I’ve had it for over 15 years. When I first started receiving the spoofed calls from ND numbers, I answered a couple and there was silence. I answered because they were cell phone numbers and didn’t yet know that spoofing was a thing. I have since received endless spoofed ND numbers and ignore them. Occasionally, I receive robo calls from other places. My husband tried to call one back when I missed one the other day. I told him to hang up as it was most likely spam. I’ve found ignoring them for a while slows them. I only bother to block the numbers that repeatedly call. It’s frustrating and I hope that the Attorney Generals are successful in their endeavor.
