When I took a class at my LQS, the owner had me try a Janome foot on my machine. No bouncing, no rubber band, etc, only $10.00. Beats trying to figure out the rubber band thing. I love it! BTW I have an old Rikkar machine, but check your local store and see if they have one that fits!

Another thing that helps is wearing my rubber grip gloves. And I went to Joann's bought a thick gauge clear vinyl. Then made my own Supreme Slider. That has made all the difference with FMQ. Woohoo!
My edit: Now I just feel like staying home and quilting...do I really want to go to work ...A Big Fat NO!!

Here's a link for a video of the Supreme Slider - doesn't show it in use, just gives a better description of what it's for. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nL8ELxBGFcQ

To make a larger slider for my machine - I found this at a thrift store.
It's a 16"x16" piece of teflon coated "plastic" that has a repositional adhesive on the back. It's labeled as a Microwave Oven liner. It's huge, easy to cut to allow for opening the bobbin case etc, and in my opinion works as good or better than my Supreme slider.
Cost at thrift store - $5.99
Oh, and add the happy dance!!!! (_/_)(_\_)(_/_)(_\_) :)
