Oh Do hush up about Christmas only being 116 days away. Our summer was real late getting here and I just can't stand the thought of fall coming so soon, let alone winter, and then Christmas. I am just not ready for sweaters and sweatshirts yet.
As for gifts, maybe table runners this year or purses. I just made the popular bag, okay I am going brain dead here. the ones with the ties on them. ANYWAY, I have the pattern for another one so may be making that one this weekend. If I find I can make them pretty fast, that may be something I could make. Jan

I'm making messenger bags for granddaughters out of recycled 100% wool clothing. Maybe also some snap bags.

I get together every five or six weeks with 9 girls I went to grade school with - graduated 8th grade 52 yrs. ago. We all lived close, walked to school every day together, in Girl Scouts together with our mom's as leaders, took swimming lessons together etc. I bought those pocket calendars you can get at the dollar store that have a plastic jacket. I made a quilted cover for each one of the girls with their monograms on the cover. I also included a note that expressed my gratitude for having them as lifelong friends and how much the make a difference in my life. I wrapped them in tissue and slipped them into a padded envelope and mailed them as Christmas cards (gifts). Very inexpensive gift that evidently meant a lot to each one of them. The note brought a tear to their eyes.
Now when we get together we all check our calendars to see when the next get together will be.
It was a big hit with all of them.

If you have kids to make for how about flannel pillowcases. I did last year and the kids loved them. They have so many cute kits prints in flannel.

I'm thinking about making matching checkbook covers and make- up bags for the ladies I work with. I made a checkbook cover for me on my serger and they seemed to like it when they saw it. So I think they will like them. For my MIL a lap quilt and maybe a flannel lap quilt for my DH. Not sure what to do for my nephew - he is 24. He probably just wants $$. LOL
