Here's a link to the article announcing that Wal-Mart will be bringing back fabric to all of it's stores! Hurray!

if the link doesn't work, it's the wall street journal business page, today's edition.

I hope they sell David's Textiles fabric. I know a few Walmarts have a contract to buy directly from that company's rep. It is the very same sold at LQS. I hope Walmart has someone quilt smart in the buying dept.

One of the Walmarts here has some in its almost none excistent fabric department. I always look for the David Textile fabric and buy some if I like it. It is the cheapest fabric on the shelf at $2.79 but it is the best they cary. Before the fabric department closed down some of them also carried Hawaiian fabric Trentex. It was a little more pricey for Walmart but it was very nice and went fast. The fabrics theat came in are mostly cheese cloth and are $4-5. It is nothing I would use besides the David textiles which ironically is cheaper.
I wonder if they mean bringing fabric back means a tiny corner in the store.

My DH hated my sarcastic remarks everytime I was forced to go into a Walmart after they got rid of the fabric. Then they eliminated fishing gear, brands of his favorite candy, and other stuff he liked. Hehehe. I was only sarcastic, he was censored.

There was a brief item in the Tampa Tribune this morning also saying that they would be bringing some "old" items back.
In a way, that's too bad - I was saving SOOOO much money by seldom going into the store after they took out the embroidery floss, fabrics, and yarns. (Sarcasm intended)
I hope they bring back the "miscellaneous" selections that some stores had - sometimes there were wonderful "older" fabrics from some great lines in those groupings.
