Default Connecting Threads Charm Packs vs Moda Charm Packs

Have any of you used charm packs from Connecting Threads, and if so, are they really cut square and really five inches? I've made several of their quilt kits and used their yardage and couldn't be more pleased with the quality and customer service, but I haven't used their charm squares. The reason I ask is that I'm in the middle of a project using a Moda charm pack and not happy at all with it due to the squares being off and not always the full 5 inches. I like the idea of charm packs and layer cakes for the variety and I'm hoping CT does a more accurate cutting job than Moda. Thanks!

I've only ordered one, but it was cut accurately. the up side is that they calculate the yardage in the pack, multiply it by they price/yard of that collection and that's what they charge you. Their prices for precuts are very reasonable.

I could be wrong but I think they buy them already cut by the manufacturer and resell them? So if you do not like what you are getting from Moda and buy the same brand elsewhere...you are no further ahead.

Connecting Threads cuts their own fabric into accurate 5" squares. From their website:

    5" Charm Pack Fabric Bundles
Our charm packs are a great way to try one of each fabric from a collection. Each charm pack contains a selection of coordinated 5-inch charm squares. We believe that convenience shouldn't cost extra, so we never charge for cutting. This means that our charms, strips, and other precut fabric bundles have the same per-yard cost as normal yardage cuts.

I've purchased charm packs from Connecting Threads and never had any problems. But, once in a while you will get a miscut piece in the pack - at least that's what happened with the batiks I bought from them. Didn't have any problems with other designs though. I really like the material I've purchased from them.

CT charms are a bit ravely I have noticed. Prolly because the edges are not pinked. I have never had trouble with Moda charms.

Sometimes they are. A few years ago I bought some charms from the Aqua Terra line and they were pinked. A few months later when the line went clearance, I bought all the charm packs and FQs they had left and none of that fabric was pinked.

I buy a charm pack of every new line CT has. I can see exactly what yardage I want of the line and have the squares as a bonus.

I buy both CT charms, layer cakes, and strips and I do the same with Moda. Both will have a miscut occasionally. I really love CT and have ordered from them 3-4 times this past 6-8 weeks. I like the "hand" of their fabrics. The Christmas fabrics are beautiful. I also have bought Moda recently.

I ordered several charm packs of batiks from them and was very pleased with the results. I have also ordered yardage and was pleased. I highly recommend their fabric.
