Default Toss All My Plans Out the Window?

My nephew and his wife are expecting in April (after a successful invitro) and I had plans for a baby quilt with active outdoor themes (they live and play in BC) but they just informed all of us they are moving (job-related) to Oman for 3 years. They certainly don't need a quilt where the average temp is 40+C. I know they will live in air conditioned quarters but I no longer think a quilt is appropriate. I'm thinking of waiting till they return and their daughter will be almost 3?

I think she would enjoy a quilt on the floor for playtime too.

Just remember that air conditioning can feel very cold to a baby--especially during tummy time. Make the quilt and make it the way YOU want. If nothing else, it will be a lovely reminder of the country they love.

Babies need lots of tummy time! I always recommend that my baby quilts be used for that and not saved.

They will love a quilt. It will be something very special "from home" to have with them. Think of all the memories and photos they will have of the baby and the quilt. You must be a loving aunt.

I would also vote for the original quilt pattern to remind the whole family of BC. I can't even imagine the change of environments they are going to experience.

Definitely continue with your original plans. It will remind them of home and still be cuddly for baby.
