Question Would these work better than binder clips?

    http://www.harborfreight.com/4-in-ra...der-62242.html

These are on sale at harbor freight right ( tool store) now for 1.99.
For sandwiching a quilt on a table for basting most people use large binder clips.
My husband suggested these ( he had some in his shed) because you can adjust them
    a great deal for size.
I was thinking about going to get some of them. I tried one out on my table and they hold very securely and lock and unlock.
    What do you think?

Do you have a store near you? Some of their clamps are plastic-y and very flimsy. As long as you know that the ones your husband has are the same, go right ahead. The binder clips do have a wider clamping surface, but these should work well. I have purchased a lot of 'quilting' equipment at HF.

Yes, there is a store near me. I think i will take one of my husband's clamps with me to compare.
I just thinking if you were using a table with a wide base these could accommodate the wider base easier than
a binder clip. I like the fact that they lock down too.
Glad to know i'm not the only one to think outside the box paper princess.

I have a butcher block table that is an inch wide. I also have some of the long plastic white utility tables
    that are 2 inches wide.

I have borrowed DH's also. We now keep a few of them in the sewing room. they work great if the mechanism under your table is wider than some of the other clamps. His are metal and he paid more for them but I like the fact I can adjust them so easily.

I bought a couple of these to use to hold rulers in place for long cuts. Works ok for that but more trouble than it's worth for me at this point. Might be useful for someone with holding issues? Have never thought to use them for sandwiching as my binder clips fit very well and I have a bunch of them.

Some of us in our quilting group tried my husbands out to sandwich a quilt. Loved them so we bought some to keep in our cupboard in our sewing room here in our park and use them every time we sandwich.

You can go to the dollar store and get picnic table holder and they work also. They are to clip the table cloth onto the picnic table. They do break after several uses, but they are cheap.
